Incorporated is a biotechnology company in the business of researching,
developing and commercializing small molecule drugs for the treatment of
serious diseases. The company is concentrating most of its drug development
resources on four drug candidates: telaprevir (VX-950) for the treatment of
hepatitis C virus infection, VX-702 for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
and other inflammatory diseases, VX-770 for the treatment of cystic fibrosis
and VX-883 for the treatment of bacterial infection. Vertex Pharmaceuticals
also includes several drug candidates that are being developed by its
