Timken is a global manufacturer of engineered bearings, alloy and specialty steel and related components. Timken is a manufacturer of tapered roller bearings and alloy seamless mechanical steel tubing and a North America-based bearings manufacturer. Timken had facilities in 27 countries on six continents as of 2006. The company manufactures two basic product lines: anti-friction bearings and steel products. On June 30, 2006, the company sold Timken Precision Components, Europe. In December 2006, Timken acquired Turbo Engines, Inc., a provider of aircraft engine overhaul and repair services. It also completed the sale of its Latrobe Steel subsidiary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to a group of investors led by the Watermill Group, Hicks Holdings and Sankaty Advisors.
