PPL Corporation is an energy and utility holding company, which through its subsidiaries, produces electricity from power plants in the northeastern and western United States; markets wholesale or retail energy principally in the northeastern and western portions of the United States; delivers electricity to nearly five million customers in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom and Latin America, and provides energy services for businesses in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States. PPL is organized into three units: Supply, Delivery and International. In April 2004, PPL Global sold its investment in a Brazilian electric-distribution company called Companhia Energetica do Maranhao.
