Peet's Coffee & Tea is a specialty coffee roaster and
marketer of fresh roasted whole bean coffee in the United States. Peet's sells
approximately 32 types of coffee as regular menu items. Peet's also offers
hand chosen whole leaf and bagged tea, and a limited line of specialty food
items, such as jellies, jams and candies. Peet's also sells brewing equipment
for coffee and tea, paper filters and brewing accessories, and cups, saucers,
and travel mugs. Peet's coffee, tea and related items are sold through two
units: Company-operated retail outlets and specialty sales, consisting of
home delivery (online and mail order), grocery store, food service and
office. During the fiscal year ended January 2, 2005, Peet's operated 92
retail stores in California, Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, Massachusetts,
Texas, and Washington. The
company is building a new $24M roasting plant in Alameda, CA,
which should start working in 2007.
