Marathon Oil Corporation engages in global exploration
and production of crude oil and natural gas. Marathon Oil operates through
three business units: exploration and production, which explores for and
produces crude oil and natural gas; refining, marketing and transportation, which
refines, markets and transports crude oil and petroleum products, and
integrated gas, which markets and transports natural gas and products
manufactured from natural gas, such as liquefied natural gas and methanol.
Marathon Oil's primary operating subsidiaries are Marathon Oil Company and
Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC. During the year end 2004, Marathon Oil's
worldwide liquid hydrocarbon production averaged 170,000 barrels per day and
sales of natural gas production, including gas acquired for injection and
subsequent resale, averaged 999 million cubic feet per day.
