MedImmune, Inc. is a biotechnology company focusing its efforts on the areas of infectious disease, oncology and immunology. The company markets four products: Synagis (palivizumab) and FluMist (Influenza Virus Vaccine Live, Intranasal) to help prevent two common respiratory infectious diseases; Ethyol (amifostine) to help reduce undesired side effects of certain anti-cancer, chemo and radiotherapies, and Cytogam (cytomegalovirus immune globulin intravenous (human)) to help prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease associated with solid organ transplantation. The company operates facilities in the United States and Europe to manufacture and distribute one or more components of each of its products. MedImmune also has clinical, research and development staff in the United States, by which it is developing a pipeline of product candidates for potential marketing.
