Quicksilver Resources Inc. is an independent oil and gas company involved in the development and production of natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil, which it attains through a combination of developmental drilling, exploitation and property acquisitions. Quicksilver's efforts are mainly focused on unconventional reservoirs, such as hydrocarbons found in fractured shales, coal seams and tight sands. Quicksilver's operations are concentrated in the Michigan, Western Canadian Sedimentary and Fort Worth Basins. In 2006, it had estimated proved reserves of 1.57 trillion cubic feet equivalent, of which approximately 98% were natural gas. Quicksilver's asset base is geographically diverse, with approximately 33% of reserves in Michigan, 20% in Canada and 45% in Texas. In November 2007, BreitBurn Energy Partners L.P. completed the purchase of all of the natural gas, oil and midstream assets of Quicksilver in Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky.
