integrated, self-administered and self-managed equity real estate investment
trust that owns and operates suburban office, industrial and retail
properties in the southeastern and Midwestern United States. Highwoods Properties provides leasing, management,
development, construction and other customer-related services for its properties
and for third parties. The company's business is the acquisition, development
and operation of rental real estate properties. As of December 2006, Highwoods Properties owned 322 in-service office,
industrial and retail properties; 109 rental residential units; 719 acres of
undeveloped land suitable for future development, of which 435 acres are
