HCA HCA Inc. is a healthcare services company that owns,
manages or operates hospitals; freestanding surgery centers; diagnostic and
imaging centers; radiation and oncology therapy centers; comprehensive
rehabilitation and physical therapy centers; and various other facilities. At
December 31, 2004, the company operated 189 hospitals, comprised of 174
general, acute care hospitals; seven psychiatric hospitals; one
rehabilitation hospital, and seven hospitals included in joint ventures. The
company also operated 92 freestanding surgery centers. HCA’s facilities are
