Equity Residential is an integrated real estate company engaged in the acquisition, development, ownership, management and operation of multi-family properties. Equity Residential is the general partner of ERP Operating Limited Partnership, an Illinois limited partnership. As of the end of December 2004 Equity Residential owned an approximate 93.3% ownership interest in the Operating Partnership. As of the end of 2004, Equity Residential, directly or indirectly, through investments in title holding entities, owned all or a portion of 939 properties in 32 states and Washington, D.C. consisting of 200,149 units. These include 584 garden-style properties, consisting of 154,230 units, 52 mid/high-rise properties, consisting of 14,409 units, 302 ranch-style properties, consisting of 27,709 units and one military housing property consisting of 3,801 units.
