Dynegy Inc. is a holding company that operates through its subsidiaries in two areas of the energy industry: power generation and natural gas liquids. Dynegy's power generation unit is engaged in the production and sale of electric power from its owned and leased facilities. Its natural gas liquids unit consists of its midstream asset operations, located mainly in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico, and Dynegy's North American natural gas liquids marketing business. Dynegy's customer risk management unit is composed largely of its three remaining power-tolling arrangements. In January 2005, Dynegy completed the purchase from Exelon Corporation of all of the outstanding capital stock of ExRes SHC, Inc., the parent company of Sithe Energies, Inc. and Sithe/Independence Power Partners, L.P. In September 2004, Dynegy’s regulated energy delivery business, which was conducted through Illinois Power and its subsidiaries, was sold to Ameren Corporation.
