Coventry Health Care Inc. is a managed healthcare
company with 2.5 million members as of the end of December 2004. Coventry
Health operates a portfolio of local market health plans serving 15 markets,
primarily in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Southeast United
States. Its health plans are operated under the names Altius
Health Plans, Carelink Health Plans, Coventry Health Care, Coventry Health
and Life, Group Health Plan, HealthCare USA, HealthAmerica, HealthAssurance,
PersonalCare, OmniCare, SouthCare, Southern Health and WellPath. In selected
markets, it participates in Medicaid and Medicare Advantage programs.
Coventry Health's products include traditional health maintenance
organization (HMO) products, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and
point of service (POS) products. Within these products, it also offers
consumer-directed benefit options, including health reimbursement accounts
and health savings accounts. The Company acquired First Health Group Corp. in
January 2005.
