Wholesale
COST Costco Wholesale Corporation operates membership
warehouses in a range of merchandise categories. Costco's merchandise
selection is designed for business and consumer members, and it offers a
range of nationally branded and selected private-label products. Costco buys
the majority of its merchandise directly from manufacturers. The company has
two primary types of members: Business and Gold Star (individual) members.
Costco also offers an Executive Membership program to both Business and Gold
Star members. During the fiscal year ended August 28, 2005, Costco operated
433 warehouse clubs, of which 338 were in the United States, 65 in Canada, 16
in the United Kingdom, five in Korea, four in Taiwan and five in Japan. In
