Boston Scientific Corporation is a developer,
manufacturer and marketer of medical devices that are used in a wide range of
interventional medical specialties, including interventional cardiology,
vascular surgery, peripheral interventions, electrophysiology, neurovascular
intervention, endoscopy, urology, oncology, gynecology and neuromodulation.
Boston Scientific’s products are mainly offered for sale by its two business
segments: Cardiovascular and Endosurgery. In April 2004, Boston Scientific
acquired Precision Vascular Systems, Inc., a company that designs, develops
and manufactures medical devices for use in accessing the brain, heart and
other areas of the anatomy. In June 2004, Boston Scientific acquired Advanced
Bionics Corporation, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of
neuromodulation devices. In March 2005, Boston Scientific acquired Advanced
Stent Technologies, a development-stage company that has developed a coronary
bifurcation stent with a Petal stent feature.
