Sotheby's BID Sotheby's, formerly Sotheby's Holdings, Inc., is an auctioneer
of fine art, antiques and decorative art, jewelry and collectibles. In
addition to auctioneering, the company’s Auction unit is engaged in a variety
of related activities, including the brokering of private purchases and sales
of fine art, jewelry and collectibles. Sotheby's also operates as a dealer in
works of art through its Dealer unit, conducts art-related financing
activities through its Finance unit and is engaged, to a lesser extent, in
licensing activities. In June 2006, Sotheby's acquired Noortman Master
Paintings, a dealer in Old Master, Impressionist and Post-Impressionist
