Borders Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates book, music and movie retail stores, and mall-based bookstores. Border’s operating subsidiaries include Borders, Inc., Walden Book Company, Inc., Borders (UK) Limited and Borders Australia Pty Limited. As of February, 2007, Border’s operated 567 superstores under the Borders name, including 499 in the United States, 41 in the United Kingdom, 20 in Australia, three in Puerto Rico, two in New Zealand, and one each in Singapore and Ireland. The company also operated 564 mall-based and other bookstores primarily under the Waldenbooks name in the United States and 30 bookstores under the Books etc. name in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Border’s owns and operates United Kingdom-based Paperchase Products Limited, a designer and retailer of stationery, cards and gifts. Its operating divisions consist of domestic Borders superstores, Waldenbooks Specialty Retail stores, International stores and Corporate.
