C. R. Bard, Inc. (Bard) is engaged in the design, manufacture, packaging, distribution and sale of medical, surgical, diagnostic and patient care devices. Bard sells a range of products all over the world to hospitals, individual health care professionals, extended care facilities and alternate site facilities. In general, Bard's products are to be used once and then discarded or implanted either permanently or temporarily. Bard reports its sales around the concept of disease state management in four major product group categories: vascular, urology, oncology and surgical specialties. Bard also has a product group of other products. Bard markets its products through 23 subsidiaries and a joint venture in over 90 countries outside the United States. The Company's principal international markets are in Europe and Japan. In 2004, Bard acquired Onux Medical, Inc., a Hernia repair fixation system, and Bridger Biomed, Inc., a supplier of Soft tissue repair.
